You need to protect the equipment in your data center, computer room, or equipment room from the damaging effects of high temperature and high humidity.
The best way to protect sensitive electronics is to constantly monitor the temperature and/or humidity in your data center, computer room, or server room and be notified immediately about an air conditioning system or power failure.

The Computer Room Guard will give you immediate notification with a telephone alert call or with our Data Capture software running on a PC you will also receive alarm emails and text messages. The early warning you receive will allow you to take corrective action before the servers melt down, bringing the enterprise to a halt.

The Computer Room Guard will call up to eight phone numbers or pagers to notify key personnel of a problem with any computer room, server room, or equipment room. Call anytime and hear the temperature and humidity and power status in a data center, computer room, server room, or equipment room.

Computer/software independent telephone alert calls, made by devices like the Computer Room Guard, are a must-have for any mission critical monitoring application.

To receive email and text messages our free Data Capture software must be running on a PC or server. Data Capture sends out the emails.

For additional protection, water sensors, door sensors, or any sensor with a dry contact output can be connected to the Computer Room Guard. Get notified if there is a water leak or a door is left open.

The Computer Room Guard can be used as a simple single room temperature alarm, a multiple room temperature alarm, a simple humidity alarm, a multiple room humidity alarm, or any combination of sensors to fulfill your requirements for an environmental alarm.

Computer Room Guard VM608e Frequently Asked Questions

What is the minimum I need to buy to build a monitoring system?

One VM608e, to allow you to monitor up to four rooms or zones.

One sensor (R temperature sensor or one RH-3R temperature and humidity sensor , or one WTR water sensor) for each area you wish to monitor.

Wire to go from each sensor to the VM608e.

*Does the Computer Room Guard send out email and text messages by itself?

The Computer Room Guard uses our free Data Capture software that must be running at all times to send out alarm emails and text messages. The Computer Room Guard does not directly send them.

How does the VM608e work?

There are six programmable items for each zone.

Zone identification message (i.e. "Server Room 1")

High temperature alarm limit (i.e. 85°F)

Low temperature alarm limit (i.e. 45°F)

High humidity alarm limit (i.e. 90%)

Low humidity alarm limit (i.e. 15%)

Call out time delay in minutes. (i.e. 10 minutes)

The Computer Room Guard has been installed in Building 2 of the XYZ Corp. and a system identification message of "This is the Computer Room Guard of XYZ Corp. at Building 2" is recorded.

Zone 1 temperature/humidity sensor is in Server Room 1. The unit has been programmed as shown above.

The temperature in Server Room 1 rises to 86 degrees. After 10 minutes the Computer Room Guard calls all of the programmed phone numbers until the PIN number is entered.

If an answering machine answers the phone, the Computer Room Guard will leave the alarm message and continue calling.

Once all of the phone numbers have been dialed, the Computer Room Guard will wait twenty minutes and then retry all phone numbers.

If, after the PIN number is entered to confirm that the temperature is out of limits, and the temperature is still out of limits after the Alarm Reminder Time Delay has expired, the Computer Room Guard will begin to make emergency phone calls again.

Temperature alarm message

Humidity alarm message
"This is the Computer Room Guard at Building 2 of XYZ Corp. Warning, Zone 1, Server Room 1, humidity is 78 percent and has been out of limits for 10 minutes. Enter your PIN number."

Water sensor alarm message
"This is the Computer Room Guard at Building 2 of XYZ Corp. Warning, water has been detected. Enter your PIN number."

Power outage alarm message
"This is the Computer Room Guard at Building 2 of XYZ Corp. Warning, power has been out for 6 minutes. Enter your PIN number."

Sensors that you can use with the VM608E:

RH3-R: combo temperature and humidity sensor
R: wall mount temperature sensor
WTR: water sensor
DR: door sensor
BP: bullet probe temperature sensor

Please see the Sensors and Accessories page for ordering.

Connect the Strobe light and siren (RL-B) to the relay output

You may also need extra wire, as most sensors only come with 10' of wire. The R and RH3-R don't come with any wire. The RH3-R needs 5 conductor wire and it is availible on the sensors page.
